Financial Aid for Beauty School
Are you interested in beauty school, but wondering how to pay for it? In addition to scholarship options, financial aid is available to those who qualify. We know that anything helps when it comes to tuition assistance, which is why we’re here to help you find a way to make your education investment possible.
As an officially accredited school, Academy of Hair Design is able to offer federal aid options to our students. What Is FAFSA?
Students enrolled at Academy of Hair Design are eligible to apply for Federal Assistance. We’re here on site, ready to help you figure out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your FAFSA application, combined with your tax return information, will determine whether you qualify for a number of financial aid options that are available. We recommend filling out your FAFSA early on in the beauty school application process to determine what your individual financial situation will look like. If you have questions during this process, financial aid representatives at Academy of Hair Design are available to help you.
It is important to note that if you are a dependent student, there is other information needed to complete the application. You can see the full list here, as well as further instructions about filling out the application online.
What type of aid is available?
Different types of financial aid can be available to you depending on your individual situation. A financial aid specialist at Academy of Hair Design can answer questions about any specific type of aid, including the following types of grants and loans:
Grants
A grant is a need-based payment made to help support a student’s education. Grants are typically awarded on the basis of academic or financial needs.
- Pell Grants: Pell Grants are the foundation of federal student financial assistance, and aid from other federal and non-federal sources can be combined with Pell Grants. These grants are typically awarded to undergraduate students. Unlike loans, grants are not repaid unless you withdraw from school. The amount of your Pell Grant aid is based on factors such as age, attendance, family contribution, full- or half-time attendance, and your academic year.
- Ace Grant: Prospective students should request information, an application, and a salon assessment for the Ace Grant Program by calling 1-800-831-1086 ext. 101. Ace Grants are up to $1,000. Visit www.BeautySchools.org for more information.
Federal Direct Loan Program
Student loans, unlike grants, are borrowed money that must be repaid with interest. Eligible students and parents borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education. There are three types of loans in this program:
- Subsidized Stafford Loan: This type of loan is only available to students with financial needs. Students with this loan will not be required to pay interest as a student or for the first six months after graduation.
- Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: This type of loan is available to any student, regardless of financial situation. Recipients of this type of loan will be responsible for paying the interest once the loan is disbursed.
- Plus Loans: This loan can be given to parents of a dependent undergraduate student to help pay for their student’s education. Parents must be approved for this type of loan with qualifying credit. You can find out more about PLUS loans and fill out the application here.
